Doug Kraus, 56, of New Ulm died Monday, November 19, 2012 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 pm Saturday, November 24, 2012 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm with Monsignor Douglas Grams celebrating the Mass. A private interment will be held at a later date in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 pm Friday and 7:30 am-1 pm Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 7pm at the funeral home on Friday.
Doug is survived by his wife, Julie Kraus of New Ulm; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Jordan Stewart of Oak Harbor, Washington; son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Stacia Kraus of North Oaks; grandchildren, Evan, Olivia, and Amery; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Sheryl Kraus of Eden Prairie; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Willard and Dorothy Waibel of New Ulm; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Carol and Mark Reedstrom of North Mankato, Mary and Joe Ulrey of Minneapolis, Susan and Hugh Rosser of Clermont, Florida, Dan and Jean Waibel of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, and Greg Waibel of Woodbury. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Douglas Lee Kraus was born August 10, 1956 in New Ulm to Richard Henry and Jeanette (Hansen) Kraus. He attended New Ulm High School and graduated with the class of 1974. On April 28, 1979 Doug was united in marriage to Julie Waibel at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm. He started his own construction business in 1985, calling it “Doug Kraus Construction”. He ran his business for the past 27 years. Doug was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the American Legion Riders, and the Isaac Walton League. He loved to hunt and ride motorcycles. He was a perfectionist in everything he did and especially enjoyed doing things for others. Most of all, Doug loved his wife, children and their spouses, and his grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to NUACS, St. Mary’s Church, or the Isaac Walton League.
