Ruth Lois Wold

NEW ULM

Ruth Wold, 89, of New Ulm died Sunday, November 25, 2012 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Funeral service will be 1 pm Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor Jim Snyder officiating. Private family interment will follow at the New Ulm City Cemetery Columbarium. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Saturday. Ruth is survived by her sister, Kathryn Hinsverk of Burnsville; nephews and nieces, David (Peggy) Hinsverk of La Crosse, Wisconsin, Karen Egeberg (partner, Wendy Loomis) of Hastings, Evelyn (David) Clifford of Apple Valley; and grand nephews and nieces Rachel (Adam) Hoffmann of Northfield, Gretchen Egeberg of Duluth, Matthew (Laura) Clifford of Apple Valley, and Ruth (Brandon) Lytle of Eagan. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sister-in-law, Bruce Wold, Norman and Marion Wold; and brother-in-law, Don Hinsverk.

Ruth Lois Wold was born March 5, 1923 in Roseau to Edgar and Betty (Dokken) Wold. She graduated from the Roseau School System in 1941 and then from the Swedish Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis in 1946. She worked as a Registered Nurse at the New Ulm Medical Center for 44 years. After her retirement, she continued to work as a New Ulm Medical Center Hostess for 14 years. In 2004, Ruth received the NUMC Legends Award for 58 years of service. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in New Ulm, where she sang in the church choir, and the Sons of Norway in Hanska. As Ruth said in her own words, “I have had a long life of good health”. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Our Saviors Lutheran Church.
