Adelia “Dale” Sondag, 101, of New Ulm died Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the Winthrop Good Samaritan Society in Winthrop. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11am Saturday, January 12 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm with Monsignor Douglas Grams celebrating the Mass. Visitation will be 9-10:30 am Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm.

Dale is survived by her son, Glen (Sue) Sondag of Glenview, IL; grandchildren, Michael (Stefanie) Sondag of Chicago, Matthew Sondag of Chicago, Eric (Susie) Sondag of New York, and Jason (Jackie) Sondag of Chicago; three great grandchildren; and by nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1992; her daughter, Kay, in 1962; and by her siblings.

Adelia Martha Simmet was born April 25, 1911 in Nicollet County to Robert and Anna (Fortwenger) Simmet. On October 5, 1937 Dale was united in marriage to Victor Sondag at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm. She was a very talented craft maker and seamstress and worked as a seamstress at Raleigh Clothing Store in New Ulm in her youth. Dale loved having children visit her at her apartment at Ridgeway on German and always had candy for them. She was known as “the high heel lady” and wore high heels all her life. She even wore high heels when she painted her house, mowed her lawn, and when she entered the nursing home in August. Dale was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm and was very active in the church and CCW. She will be dearly missed.
