Marcella Margaret Bushard

Marcella Bushard, 93, of New Ulm died Thursday, January 10, 2013 at the New Ulm Medical Center.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10-:30 AM Monday, January 14, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with Monsignor John A. Richter officiating. Burial will follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be 3 – 7 PM Sunday and 7:30 – 10 AM Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm.

The Christian Mother’s Society will pray the rosary at 4 PM Sunday at the Cathedral. The St. Joseph’s – St. Elizabeth’s Catholic United will pray the rosary at 5:30 PM Sunday at the funeral home.

Marcella is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Lois Schreyer of New Ulm, Connie Kloeckl of Hanska, Judy and Rick Fullerton of Chaska; sons and daughters-in-law, Gregg and Agnes Bushard, Gordy Bushard, Ron and Linda Bushard, all of New Ulm; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stanley; daughter-in-law, Connie Bushard; son-in-law, Randy Kloeckl; sisters, Margaret Breu, Lucille Brandel, Petronella Portner; and by her brother, Joseph “Sep” Hauser.

Marcella Margaret Hauser was born June 22, 1919 in Home Township, Brown County to Joseph and Margaret (Breigenzer) Hauser. She attended District School #23 in Home Township. Marcella was united in marriage to Stanley Bushard on June 21, 1944 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. After marriage they farmed in West Newton Township, Nicollet County on Stanley’s family farm. They moved to rural Courtland and farmed there until moving to New Ulm in 1972. She was also employed at the Kaiserhoff in New Ulm until her retirement. Marcella enjoyed spending time with family and friends and also making quilts for family members.

She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, Christian Mother’s Society and Catholic United.
