Dateline: New Ulm

Esther Dauer, 99, of New Ulm died Monday, January 28, 2013 at the Lakeview Ranch in Dassel.

Funeral service will be 11 AM Wednesday, February 6, at the Clear Lake Baptist Church in rural Gibbon with Pastor Ramon Flores officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be 3 – 6 PM Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at church on Wednesday.

Esther is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Vernon and Eileen Dauer of Darwin, Gerald and Sheila Dauer of San Pedro, California; a very special longtime friend, Ray Steinbach of New Ulm; six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernard; son, Kenneth; and by 11 siblings.

Esther Louise Melquist was born December 16, 1913 in Gibbon to John and Mary Melquist. She was united in marriage to Bernard Dauer at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. After marriage they lived in New Ulm where she worked as a homemaker and after her husband’s death she cleaned homes until her retirement at the age of 80. Esther enjoyed spending time at the Senior Citizen’s Center in New Ulm.
