NEW ULM

Arline Krambeer, 95, of Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 5, 2013. Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated by Monsignor John A. Richter, will be 10:30am Friday, February 8 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8pm Thursday and 7:30-10 am Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm. The Christian Mothers will pray the rosary at 4pm at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity on Thursday and the St. Joseph/St. Elizabeth Catholic United Council will pray the rosary at 7 pm at the funeral home on Thursday.

Arline M. Mertz was born to Jacob and Katie (Flor) Mertz on December 3, 1917 in Prairieville Township. She graduated from Holy Trinity High School in 1935 and attended teachers’ training prior to teaching for eight years in rural schools. She married Gervase Krambeer on November 23, 1943. They farmed in Sigel Township for 29 years. After her husband’s untimely death at age 59, she moved to New Ulm.

Arline is survived by her daughters, Connie (James) Gulbrandson and Nancy (John) Hacker of New Ulm; grandson, Eric (Jennifer) Gulbrandson of Blaine; granddaughters, Danielle and Ashley Hacker of Minneapolis; great grandchildren, Ethan and Emma Gulbrandson; sister-in-law, Ordell Krambeer of Sleepy Eye; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Adelle (Norman) Lambrecht and Mildred (Clarence) Blumhoefer; brother, Edwin (Eleanor) Mertz; sisters-in-law, Delores (Wendolin) Bruckbauer; brothers-in-law, Freddie (Jean) Krambeer, Francis (Verna) Krambeer, Terry Krambeer; nephews, Tom Krambeer, Calvin Krambeer, Freddie Bruckbauer; and niece, Rhonda Rieger.

Arline was a loyal member of many organizations, including Christian Mothers, the St. Joseph/St. Elizabeth Catholic United Council, Prayer of Praise, the New Ulm Medical Center Auxiliary, and Turner Hall since 1976. She proudly wore her Turner Ladies red smock and served for many years in the task of recruiting volunteer waitresses for Turner events. She enjoyed her family, church, gardening, playing cards, and baking her famous Hershey Bar pie, which was a family favorite. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to NUACS or the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity.
