Alberta (Bert) Victoria Marth-Wohlfeil passed away March 30, 2023 at the New Ulm Medical Center. She had turned 89 February 4 th .
Visitation is Wednesday April 5 th 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in New Ulm followed by the funeral at 11:00, Cemetery for Military Rights, burial in Soldiers Rest and back to the Church for a luncheon.

Bert was born February 4 th , 1934 to Victor and Esther Nordstrom in Helena, Montana. She graduated high school in 1952. She worked as a secretary for the Bank until 1953 when she enlisted in the United States Air Force. She was stationed in Texas at Lackland Air force base. This is where she met James Eugene Marth and they were united in marriage April 1955. They had 3 children, Shirley (Steven) Farasyn, James (Carol) Marth, Brian (Ruthie) Marth, she is also survived Grandchildren Amy Keech (Steve Netzke), Thomas Keech, Jennifer and Travis Marth, Kira Golden, Megan Larsen, Nia (Matt) Winnekens, Reba (Jon) Gamble. Great Grandchildren Troy Anderson, Kaiytlyn (Dalton) Johnsen, Gavin, Tyler, Aiden and Braden Keech, Ethan, Sophie and Nolan Netzke, Janiah and Jaiven Marth, Zakary (Jasmine) Lecloux, Jersey Larsen, Ellah and Elliot Winnekens, Shaelyn and Collin Gamble, Tegan and Justin. Great Great Grandchildren Zaine Anderson, Greysen Johnsen, Raelyn, James and Mahlyka Lecloux.
She was preceded in death by her parents Victor and Esther Nordstron, sisters Ethel and Ruth, husband James Marth in 1966 at the age of 29, husband Donald Wohlfeil 1979 and special friend Jack Bloedel for 24 years, he passed in 2011.
After the Military Career they moved to St James (James's hometown). James and Bert with Ed and Janice McCormick purchased the Chrysler / Dodge Dealership, James passed in 1966 and Ed passed in 1969 so Bert and Janice sold the Dealership. Bert then went to work Tony Downs food Company as a buyer until 1974. In 1974 she sold the house and moved to New Ulm and started a new career in the Military again in the Minnesota National Guard as an Administrative Service Technician. She retired at the age of 60, which was mandatory retirement age. For the next 39 years she volunteered for The American Legion Post 132. She was the first woman Commander in the State of Minnesota. She has served 13 years as adjutant and was presently Chaplain. At the District level she has been Adjutant, Chaplain and 5 years on the Minnesota American Legion Family Hospital Association Board of Directors. For 25 years she has worked and recruited the youth for Boys State. She spent many years running baseball tournaments which she loved doing. Her love for young people and her ability to communicate with them was a special gift. Bert was very dedicated to Our Savior's Lutheran Church and her faith in God. She enjoyed talking to all the young and the old. In her free time, you could always find her watching sports at Cathedral. Watching ball games outside no matter what the weather was. She enjoyed speaking at the schools for Memorial and Veterans Day. She enjoyed telling her story. She loved giving and helping people no matter who you were.
