Alois "Al" Spaeth, age 92, of New Ulm passed away Thursday, November 17, 2022 at the Ridgeway on 23 ^rd in New Ulm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, November 21, 2022 at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. Burial will follow in the Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm where the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard will provide full military honors.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, November 20, 2022 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – North Chapel in New Ulm. Visitation will continue from 10-11 a.m. Monday, November 21, 2022 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm.

Al is survived by his wife of 70 years, Margaret Spaeth; daughter, Cathy (Myron) Seidl of Hanska; sons, Timothy (Marci) Spaeth of Saint Charles, Steven (Jean) Spaeth of Deland, Florida; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Lucille Losleben; brother, Wilfred "Bud" (Theresa) Spaeth; sister-in-law, Delores Spaeth; son-in-law, Robert Lindemann; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Nancy Jo Lindemann; son, Alan Spaeth; sisters, Jeanette (Harold) Schugel, Monica (Erwin) Suess, Loretta (Art) Simon, Irene (Herb) Fischer; brothers, Sylvester Spaeth and Felix Spaeth; and brother-in-law, Armin Losleben.

Alois Leo Spaeth was born June 27, 1930 to Wolfgang and Bertha (Braun) Spaeth at the family farm in Morgan. He attended country school and then enlisted in the United States Army, serving in the 1950's. On August 14, 1952, Al was united in marriage to Margaret Carmichael at Fort Rucker, Alabama and their union was blessed with five children. After his military career, Al owned and operated his trucking company, Star Bulk. In his free time, Al loved to go fishing with his family, play cards, go golfing, woodworking, dancing, and polka music. He especially enjoyed making handcrafted jewelry boxes and dressers out of wood for his grandchildren. Al was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and New Ulm Snowmobile Club. Al will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Blessed be his memory.
