Anna Malinda (Birr) Johnson, age 96 passed away Monday, April 3, 2023 at her home in Lafayette (Bernadotte). She found out January 6, 2023 that she had cancer.
A funeral service will be at 11 am on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Bernadotte Lutheran Church in Lafayette with Pastor Bob Stover officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9-11 am on Saturday, prior to the service at church.

Anna was born October 30, 1926 to Louis and Helen (Baumberger) Birr. She was confirmed on Palm Sunday April 2, 1939, 84 years ago at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Peter. She attended District 68 country school in Kasota. She lived and worked various jobs in Mankato while her sisters attended college. On June 21, 1959 Anna was united in marriage to Roger R. Johnson at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church. They were blessed with 55 years of marriage. Together, they farmed in Bernadotte, rural Lafayette. Anna enjoyed making pies, bread, and cookies. She loved the outdoors and spending time in her garden. Whenever she got the chance, she loved to go fishing. Anna cherished the time she spent with her family, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Anna is survived by her children, Roger (Cathy) Johnson, Betty Ann Johnson, and Gene Johnson. She was blessed with 4 grandchildren, Wayne (Annaliese) Johnson, Bryant (Lynn) Johnson, Callie (Brian) Zimmer, Katie (Chris) Harris-Peterson; 5 great-grandchildren, Grasha Johnson, Isabelle Harris-Peterson, Caleb Johnson, Hailey Johnson, and Mackenzie Zimmer; siblings, Albert (Alma) Birr, Louie (Diane) Birr, Helen Thedens, Marie Volkmann; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Helen Birr; husband, Roger Johnson; sister, Margaret Thompson; brothers-in-law, William Thompson, Richard Thedens and Cliff Volkmann.
