Betty Lou Rosenau, age 90, of New Ulm, died Sunday, July 26, 2026 at Woodstone Senior Living in New Ulm.
A funeral service will be at 11am on Friday, July 31, 2026 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Nathan Scharf officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be held from 4-7pm on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – NORTH chapel and will continue from 10-11am on Friday at church, prior to the service.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Becky (Aaron) Braulick of New Ulm; son, Randy (Cindy) Rosenau of New Ulm; grandchildren, Amelia (Keagan Schiro) Braulick and Bryce Braulick of New Ulm, Amanda (John) Schindler of Le Center, Sarah (Clayton) Strobel of Henderson, Travis Rosenau of New Ulm; great-granddaughters, Nora and Lily Strobel; sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Arden) Alsleben, Diane Christensen, Lynette Rosenau, Barbara Rosenau; brothers-in-law, Gene Rosenau, Emil Rosenau, and Dennis (Deb) Rosenau; special cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon; parents, Edward and Marie Garbrecht; parents-in-law, Emil and Florence Rosenau; sisters-in-law, Carol (Gene) Kiecker, Alice Rosenau, and Marlys Rosenau; brothers-in-law, Ronald (Vi) Rosenau, Larry Rosenau, David Rosenau, and Melvin (Joleen) Rosenau.
Betty Lou Garbrecht was born October 6, 1935 in New Ulm to Edward and Marie (Maas) Garbrecht. She attended Nicollet Lutheran School until finishing her high school education at Nicollet High School, where she graduated in 1954. Betty worked at Loretto Hospital and finished her career at Kraft foods after 26 years. On August 9, 1958, Betty was united in marriage to Vernon Rosenau at Trinity Lutheran Church in Nicollet. They were blessed with a son and a daughter, whom together they raised in New Ulm. Betty was a member of the Friendship Club at Alliance Bank. In her free time, she enjoyed fishing and camping with family, traveling to all 50 states, anything Elvis, and visiting with friends. Her greatest joy was time with her family, especially with her grandchildren. Betty’s faith was of utmost importance to her. She was a long-time member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm.
Betty will be dearly missed by all who loved her. Blessed be her memory.
