Burton is survived by his wife, Nancy Spaude of Gibbon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother and sister-in-law, Reverend Alvin and Carolyn Spaude.
Burton Henry Spaude was born on March 17, 1932 in New Ulm to August Jr. and Ella (Biermann) Spaude. He graduated from Gibbon High School in 1950. On August 15, 1971 Burton was united in marriage to Nancy Bunting at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon. Together they farmed his family's century farm in Severance Township Sibley County until Burton's retirement in 1994. Burton truly loved the land he farmed, and took great pride in all of the work he did. For enjoyment, Burton spent many steadfast hours restoring antique tractors and machinery. Burton was a devout member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon where he served as secretary on the church counsel, and also worked on the cemetery board.
