Charles “Chuck” Victor Brunner, age 60 of rural Gibbon died at far too young of an age at his farm on Friday, July 31, 2026.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date at the Gibbon Sportsman’s Club in rural Gibbon.

Burial will take place in the St. George Catholic Cemetery.

The Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes of Gibbon are assisting the family with arrangements at this time.

Chuck is survived by his foster-sisters, Ruth (Tom) Janni of St. Peter, Antonia “Toni” (Gerry) Gleisner of Talbott, Tennessee, Charleen (Joe) Koppi of West St. Paul; his foster-brothers, Nick (Paulette) Forst of Gibbon, Chris “Louie” (Becky) Forst of New Ulm; his foster-sister-in-law, Barb Forst, and foster-brother-in-law, Bill Black; and his foster nephew, and niece, Keith (Kaitlin) Forst, Leah Stadick, and their children, Ella, Henry, and Joe; and many other relatives, neighbors, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Angeline (Klingler) Brunner; his foster-parents, Hank and Florence (Lang) Forst; his foster-sister, Marcia Black; his foster-sister, and foster-brother-in-law, Claudine and John Heulscamp; and his foster brother, H. Greg Forst.

Charles “Chuck” Victor Brunner was born March 6, 1966, in New Ulm to Victor and Angeline (Klingler) Brunner. Chuck lost his parents at a young age and was lovingly fostered by Hank and Florence Forst, who raised him as their own. Growing up in rural New Ulm, Chuck was a 1984 graduate of New Ulm High School, where he excelled on the football field. He furthered his education at the University of Minnesota, studying general education and animal science. Chuck began his working career at Super Sweet Feeds before joining Mark Dick Construction, where he earned a reputation for his meticulous craftsmanship and unwavering work ethic. Most recently, he was employed with Schaefer Well Drilling and Crane Service in New Ulm, where his willingness to lend a hand made him a valued coworker.

Outside of work, Chuck found his greatest joy in the outdoors. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed fishing in his younger years and remained a lifelong gun enthusiast with a passion for trapshooting. He proudly served on the board of the Gibbon Sportsman's Club and generously volunteered his time helping shooters through the local school’s trapshooting program. Chuck also had a deep appreciation for nature. Whether tending his garden, feeding the pheasants that gathered around his farm, or simply spending time outdoors, he found peace in the countryside. He also enjoyed volunteering with the St. George Harvest Festival where he excelled in pull tab sales.

More than anything, Chuck will be remembered for always being willing to help others. He was a dependable friend and neighbor who never thought twice about lending a hand, whether it meant helping with farm work, tackling a project, or simply being there when someone needed him. His kindness, strong work ethic, and willingness to put others first were qualities that earned the respect of everyone who knew him. Blessed be his memory.
