David Shavlik, 61, of New Ulm passed away Friday, August 9, 2024 after a hard fought, courageous battle of cancer for the past three years at the New Ulm Medical Center.

Memorial service will be 11:00 am Monday, August 19, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm with Father Gerald Meidl officiating. Visitation will be 9:00 am – 11:00 am on Monday at the church. Burial will follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.

David is survived by his mother, Sharon Shavlik of New Ulm; brother, Michael (Denise) Shavlik of Lakeville; and nephews, Desmond and Dexter Shavlik; many aunts, uncles, cousins and his beloved dog, Gabriel.

He was preceded in death by his father, Waldon "Wally" Shavlik; grandparents, Archie (Velma) Shavlik, Henry (Delores) Preisinger; and uncles, Gene Shavlik and Richard Preisinger.

David Shavlik was born February 11th, 1963 in New Ulm to Waldon and Sharon (Preisinger) Shavlik. He graduated from New Ulm High School and went on to attend Mankato State graduating in 1986. After college David worked in the mortgage industry until 2013. David enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed traveling, especially to Isla Mújeres Island in Mexico. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and he was also a member of the Sons of American Legion for 39 years. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him. Blessed be his memory.
