Van Winkle
July 19, 1936 – August 3, 2023
Dean Van Winkle known to many as "Rip" passed away peacefully on August 3rd, 2023, at Sleep Eye Care Center.
Visitation will be 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Tuesday August 8th at Minnesota Valley South Funeral Home, New Ulm MN. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday August 9th at Oakwood United Methodist Church New Ulm, MN at 11:00 am with visitation prior to service from 9:00 am – 10:30 am.
Dean is survived by his wife Rosemarie of 64 years, his children Barry (Audrey) of Farmington, Gail (Gary) of Lafayette, Steve (Tammy) of Lakeville and Neal (Laurie) of Farmington, 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and his sister Betty Johnson of Mesa AZ. He was preceded by his parents, brother Arnold of Balaton, sisters Irma (Fedde) and Jane (Kirk) of Balaton and grandson Eric Van Winkle.
Dean David Van Winkle was born on July 19, 1936, to Glen and Luella Van Winkle (Nelson) of Balaton. He graduated from Balaton High School in 1955. He joined the US Army in 1955 and served 2 years in Korea. He began his career of 39 years at Kraft Foods in 1957. He married the love of his life Rosemarie Bangerter of Wabasso on April 18, 1959, at EUB Church at Wabasso, MN. Their union was blessed with 4 children. Dean enjoyed all his years at Kraft Foods as a Group Leader and Maintenance Supervisor. He never got tired of telling jokes and stories. During his retirement he traveled the world, enjoyed playing cards and games, fishing at his cabin on Lake Vermont, spending his winters in AZ, and spending time with his kids and grandchildren.
He was a member of Oakwood United Methodist Church and was a great volunteer. Blessed be his memory.
