Dwayne N. Pipping, age 87, of Nicollet, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at The Pillars of Mankato due to Vascular Dementia.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet, with Pastor David Carlovsky officiating.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Dwayne was born on June 29, 1939, in Nicollet to Niilo and Esther (Krohn) Pipping. He attended Immanuel Lutheran School in Courtland through first grade before continuing his education at Trinity Lutheran School in Nicollet. He graduated from New Ulm High School with the Class of 1957.

Following graduation, Dwayne proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from April 1958 until April 1962.

After returning home, Dwayne began his working career at Johnson's Feed Store in Nicollet before working at Nicollet Creamery and later with Mankato Citizens Telephone Company. In 1973, he began what would become his life's work with New Sweden Mutual Insurance Company in Nicollet. He served as manager from 1992 until his retirement in 2010 and remained dedicated to the company for more than 54 years.

On May 1, 2004, Dwayne married Mary Olinger Vonderharr in Nicollet. Together they built a life centered around family, faith, and community.

Dwayne was a longtime member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet, a 53 year long member of Nicollet Lions Club. He also served on the Nicollet City Council and he was a proud member of the Singing Hills Chorus. He enjoyed spending time on the golf course, tending to his garden, playing cards and board games, rolling dice with family and friends, and making regular coffee stops at the local café. One of his greatest traditions was the annual trip to the Daytona 500, where he spent more than 20 years making memories alongside his son and son-in-law. Above all else, Dwayne treasured time with his family and especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow up.

Dwayne is survived by his wife, Mary Pipping of Nicollet; daughter, Janel (Dave) Prince of Flowery Branch, GA; sons, Jeff (Stacy) Pipping, Cumming, GA and Nathan (Alicia) Vonderharr, Lakeville, MN; grandchildren; Andrew (Aubrey) Pipping, Abby (Shaffer) Meisner, Sarah Pipping, Josh Prince, Will and Teddy Vonderharr; and great-grandson, Elliot Pipping; sister-in-law, Kris (Bill) Sampson; brothers-in-law, Dave (Christie) Olinger, Bill (Amy Brandel) Olinger, Dan (Barb) Olinger, Joe (Amy) Olinger, Randy (Cora) Olinger, and Fred Olinger; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Niilo and Esther Pipping; stepmother, Ann Pipping; sister, Juanita (Kermit) Linder; mother-in-law, Phyllis Olinger; sister-in-law, Sandy Swenson; and nephew, Bob Finkelson.
