Edmund "Eddy" Wendinger, 82, of New Ulm died Thursday, June 7, 2012 at the New Ulm Medical Center. Private services and burial will be held at a later date. There will be no public visitation or reviewal. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is handling the arrangements.


Eddy is survived by his daughter, Kathryn "Kathy" Willing of New Ulm; grandchildren, Chris and Rachael Willing of Olivia, Betsy and Daniel Price of New Ulm; great grandchildren, Meghan, Sakura, Daniel W.; brother, James Wendinger of Sleepy Eye; and dog, Angel. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris; brother, Eugene; and Puff the cat.


Edmund Henry Wendinger was born January 22, 1930 in New Ulm to Henry and Rosemary (Rubischko) Wendinger. He attended country school and was the sole graduate of his 8th grade class. On May 3, 1949, Eddy was united in marriage with Doris Meinzer in Leavenworth. Eddy farmed his entire life and he loved his gardens and his apple orchard with 50 kinds of trees. He was a member of St. Joseph's-St. Elizabeth United Catholic Council and St. John's Catholic Order of Foresters. His family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, were his pride and joy. Eddy would have wanted everyone to celebrate his life rather than mourn his death.
