Edna Christina Anna (Gieseke) Roegiers, age 97, of New Ulm, MN, entered eternal rest in the early morning hours of August 27, 2026 from her most recent residence of Havenwood Senior Living in Minnetonka, Minnesota.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Swan Lake Church in rural New Ulm, with Pastor Ken Bentson officiating. Burial will follow in the Swan Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Born on March 23, 1929, Edna was the 2nd youngest of 7 siblings born to Fred and Frieda (Ulrich) Gieseke. She grew up with her parents and 6 siblings on their family farm in Nicollet County, MN.

After graduating from New Ulm H.S., Edna attended a 2-year business school in Mankato, MN, where she earned an administrative associate’s degree.

Edna married the love of her life-her 2nd husband, Daniel R. Roegiers-on July 12, 1963, in Estherville, Iowa. Dan and Edna raised their large, combined family of 10 children on a beautiful, picturesque farm in rural New Ulm, where they lived for 26 years.

Edna worked as an administrator at Kraft Foods in New Ulm, all the while-together with her husband, raising their combined family of 10 children.

All in all, Edna worked for a total of 37 years at Kraft Foods. Upon her retirement, Dan and Edna sold their rural New Ulm farm and moved to a newly built house in the city of New Ulm.

Dan and Edna had spent 26 wonderfully happy years on their farm, where together they made countless, life-long, unforgettable memories with their children, and various family and friends.

After becoming ‘city-slickers’, they continued making many treasured memories with their time-honored family celebrations of Thanksgiving and Christmas, and enjoyed countless other gatherings with friends, family, and neighbors (old and new), throughout the many years that were to come. They would often get together with friends to play cards, go bowling, spend time at the lake, go out for dinner, etc.

Edna was a fantastic cook, and did a lot of it throughout the years. She was Queen of the Thanksgiving ‘spread’! Dan, and family and friends alike, were benefactors of her skillful cooking and baking. Her husband, most especially, enjoyed and appreciated his wife’s cooking… immensely!

Weaved in, out, and throughout their farm and city days were many joy-filled years spent at both lakes Ripley and Kandiyohi, respectively - fishing, and entertaining various family members, and friends. The grandchildren remember so many fun times swimming, knee- boarding, and skiing behind the pontoon boat that Grandpa Dan helmed. What special times!

Edna did a lot of travelling in her later years. She explored many destinations across the U.S., and travelled Europe and Asia to such exotic places as China, Greece, Iceland, Germany, and Austria.

Throughout her life Edna participated in numerous activities such as bowling, weekly swimming at the local pool, gardening, assorted crafting projects, playing bridge, and dedicated senior-age bus trips, to a variety of places.

A major highlight of her life was a skydiving adventure – at the age of 84! It was something she had “always wanted to do”. Much of her family was there to observe her ‘dive’ and share with her in this unforgettable feat. IT. WAS. AWESOME.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents; 6 siblings – Bernhart, Fritz, Elroy, and Lowell Gieseke, and sisters, Leona Danielson and Mae Mattson; husband, Dan Roegiers; daughter, Robin Johnson; stepson, Bruce Roegiers; grandson, David VanVliet; and husband, Wayne Menton.

She is survived by her son, Jesse Menton (Andrea); stepdaughter, Kathy Roegiers-Jensen; daughter, Gail Van Vliet (George); stepdaughter, Kris Kocinski; daughter, Debra Campbell (Tom); stepson, Brian Roegiers (Naomi); stepson, Bradley Roegiers; stepson, Brett Roegiers; 26 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
