Edward Bushard past away peacefully just shy of his 90th birthday among loving family on the evening of May 12th at the Fairfax Community Home. Born in West Newton Township on June 7th 1921, Eddie married Lorraine Zitzman, the love of his life, in St George Catholic Church on October 12, 1943 and relished their 63 years together. Soon after the marriage Eddie and Lorraine bought a farm near Gibbon and raised 6 children, farming until 1986 when they retired to New Ulm.

He was preceeded in death by Lorraine and his son, Mark, but is survived by his son Dan (Mary) of Random Lake, Wisconsin, daughters, Anne Schacher of Redwood Falls, Paulette Shibley of Brooklyn Center, Laura Dittrich (Bill) of New Ulm, and Jean Miller (Gary) of Puyallup, Washington, 10 grandchildren, Tammy Schacher (Mike), Jason Schacher (Kristi), Patrick Bushard (Jill), Jimmy Bushard (Brandi), Shawn Shibley, Jeremy Shibley (Hayley), Andrea Dittrich (Joe), Krissy Dittrich, Erika Thompson (Brent), Vanessa Miller, 13 great grandchildren, sisters Gertie Klaras of New Prague and Jeanette Domeier of New Ulm, sisters-in-law Marcella Bushard, Violet Bushard, Julia Zitzmann of New Ulm.

Eddie was truly a Minnesotan who passionately followed the Twins, enjoyed deer hunting, golfing, gardening, and picking mushrooms, but his golden years were mostly filled with his zest for a good game of cards. It was never too early nor too late for a round of canasta or sheephead and his unique, some might say even ruthless, style of play must now again be dealt with by those friends and other unsuspecting souls on the other side of those pearly gates. Eddie was a quiet easy-going man with a great sense of humor who was always self sufficient and lead the family he so loved by example. He will truly be missed by all who have had the pleasure to know him and will most certainly be granted the peace he so richly deserves.
