March 4, 1940 – January 24, 2024
Eldonna "Donna" Bastian, age 83, of New Ulm, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2024.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. A private burial will happen at a later date.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 pm Monday, January 29, 2024 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – NORTH Chapel and continue from 9:30 – 10:30 am on Tuesday at the funeral home.
She is survived by her children, Karen (Gassan) Khori, Linda (Scott) Osborne, Duane (Karen) Bastian and Dawn Bastian; grandchildren, Justina, Salemi, Whitney, Sophia, Emerald, Jeffrey, Selena, Isaiah, Walid, Stella, Gabrielle, Calvin, Hannah, Amelia, Charles, Majeed, James and Lydia; great grandchildren, Harper, Nora, Oscar, Bennett; and her sister, Janice Hazen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles "Charlie"; son, Jeffery Bastian; sisters, Muriel, Carol, Shirley; and great-granddaughter, Layla.
Eldonna Bertha Rettmann was born March 4, 1940 to Walter and Helen (Stark) Rettmann in Gibbon. She graduated from Gibbon High School in 1958. On November 10, 1961 she was united in marriage to Charles Bastian in New Ulm. Eldonna worked as a seamstress for most of her life in the New Ulm area. Later on in life she and Charles worked as caretakers for a townhouse and apartment complex. Eldonna enjoyed reading, playing cards, puzzles, watching game shows and live music. Eldonna loved to spend time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was very encouraging of wanting more. She will be deeply missed by those who knew her. Blessed be her memory.
