Florence Kuck, 88, of Searles died Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at her home in Searles surrounded by her loving family. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Searles with Monsignor John Richter celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 – 8 p.m. Sunday and will continue from 7:30 until 10 a.m. on Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, NORTH CHAPEL, in New Ulm. Florence is survived by daughters, Barb (Chuck) Grossmann of Hanska, Joyce (Daniel) Smith of Jersey City, New Jersey, Kathy (George) Thomas of Perham, Linda (Tom) Griebel of New Ulm, Sue (Norb) Klossner of New Ulm, Ruth Zender of New Ulm; and a son, Bruce (Konnie) Kuck of New Ulm; twenty five grandchildren; twenty seven great grandchildren; brothers Ralph (Carol) Kuehn of New Ulm, Raymond (Doris) Kuehn of New Ulm; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ken and Carla Kuck of Grand Island, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Glenn, on June 17, 1998; two great grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harvey and Jeanne Zupfer; and sister-in-law, Betty Kuck.
Florence Mary Kuehn, the daughter of Michael and Agnes (Janni) Kuehn, was born on June 18, 1927 on the family farm in Milford Township, Brown County. She attended District #8 Country School in Milford Township. On May 23, 1949 Florence was united in marriage to Glenn Kuck at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. After marriage they farmed in Milford Township, Brown County until 1988 when they moved to Searles. While her and Glenn were farming Florence was a working farm wife doing everything a farmer would do including milking the dairy cows they had on the farm. After moving into Searles Florence worked as a cook at Roxy's Den in Searles for many years.
Florence was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Searles where she was involved in various church activities. She was also a member of the St. John's Catholic United Financial, the Council of Catholic Women, the Brown County Committee of the Aging serving as its president in 2011 – 2012. She was a member of the Searles Senior Citizens Club and served as its president from 2002 to 2015. Florence was awarded the Senior Citizens Distinguished Service award in 2015. Florence was also a member of the "Searles Ya-Ya Girls". She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
