Gary Kohn, age 81, of Courtland passed away Sunday, August 17, 2025 at Hillcrest Rehabilitation Center in Mankato.
Memorial visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, August 21, 2025 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – South Chapel in New Ulm.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2025 at the New Ulm City Cemetery in New Ulm.

Gary is survived by his daughters, Pam (Randy) Fullerton of New Ulm, Diette (Jim Fullerton) Bushard of New Ulm; sons, Mark (Michele) Kohn of Courtland; Derek Kohn of Eagle Lake; five grandchildren, Ryan, Kala (Tim Waibel) and Jared Fullerton, Ashley (Dylan) Olson, Samantha Kohn (Spencer Raatz); two great-grandchildren, Alisandra and Lucille Waibel; brother, Tim (Lori) Kohn of Courtland; sister-in-law, Linda (Mike) Tauer; brother-in-law, Gene (Brenda) Byer; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Kohn; parents, Marvin and Florence Kohn; parents-in-law, Benedict and Helen Byer; sister, Kathy Solberg; and brother-in-law, Norbert Byer.
Gary Mavin Kohn was born February 26, 1944 to Marvin and Florence (Lindemann) Kohn in New Ulm. He graduated from New Ulm Public High School in 1962. On June 9, 1962, Gary was united in marriage to Karen Byer and their union was blessed with four children. In addition to being a father, Gary was a lifelong farmer. He began farming with his dad and brother, Tim, and continued to farm with his son, Mark, as long as he was able. In his free time, Gary enjoyed playing fantasy football, golfing at the New Ulm Country Club, and going hunting, fishing, and water skiing in his younger years. He was the president of the FFA, as well as a board member for many organizations like Alliance Bank, Courtland State Bank, and the Country Club. Many fond memories were made going to the cabin on Lake Washington, wintering at Orange Lake in Florida, and spending time with all his family and friends.
Gary will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Blessed be his memory.
