Gene D. Freeman, 92, of New Ulm died Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm. A private family graveside service will held in the New Ulm City Cemetery in New Ulm. Full military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is in charge of arrangements.
Gene is survived by his wife, Patricia Freeman of New Ulm; daughter, Darcy Rolloff of New Ulm; grandson, Daniel Rolloff of New Ulm. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Denny Freeman; daughter, Linda Freeman; daughter, Darcy Lynn Freeman in infancy.
Gene Dennis Freeman was born on May 1, 1922 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Floyd and Sara (Garrison) Freeman. He served in the U. S. Air Force during WWII as a gunner in a bomber and flew many missions. On March 3, 1956 he was united in marriage to Patricia Beyer in Mason City, Iowa. Gene was a printer by trade and worked at various establishments and later worked as a custodian at the New Ulm Junior High School in New Ulm. Gene was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post # 132 in New Ulm. www.mvfh.org
