Obituary

George Adolph Kokesch, 78 of New Ulm died peacefully after a hard fought battle with Multiple Sclerosis on Monday, April 27, 2015 at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm.

Funeral service will be 11:00 am on Thursday, April 30 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor Jeffrey A. Bovee officiating the service. Burial will follow in the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm.

Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday and 7:30-9:00 am on Thursday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, NORTH Chapel in New Ulm. George is survived by his wife Jean R. Kokesch of New Ulm; daughters, Kimberly K. (Mathew A. Iyong) Temael of Apple Valley, Kelli Rae (Liguori "Tom") Sebwe of Golden Valley; grandchildren, Matthew Temael, Zephyrus Sebwe; sisters, Barbara (Ervin) Windschitl, Mary Lou (Roman Jr.) Huiras; and brothers, Vernus Kokesch, John (Delores) Kokesch, and Dave (Delores) Kokesch.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Willard Kokesch, and his sister-in law, Jean A. Kokesch.

George Adolph Kokesch was born March 24, 1937 in New Ulm to Adolph and Myra (Grosam) Kokesch. He attended country school in St. George until the eighth grade. George was united in marriage to Jean Ruth Freyholtz on November 5, 1958 in Shakopee. The couple was blessed with two daughters whom together they raised in New Ulm. As a teenager George worked for Frank Gasner and learned the sales and repair trade. He opened his own business called George's Service in New Ulm the early 60's which he operated until his diagnosis with MS made work too difficult. In life, George was an avid sportsman and hunter. He also greatly enjoyed racing snowmobiles. What he truly loved in life was making people smile. He was a devout member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm.
