January 1, 1935 – July 8, 2024
George Walden, 89, of New Ulm died Monday, July 8 at his home.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 12 th at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church,
with Pastor Nathan Scharf officiating. Burial to follow.
Visitation will be at the church from 9-11 a.m. before the service.
George is survived by daughters Wendy (Steve) Kraus of New Ulm, and Jody Kohn of
Lafayette. Grandchildren Derek (Lyn) Neidecker and their son Anthony, Micah (Tatiana)
Neidecker and their children Katelyn, Sofie, and Myles. Kevin (Riley) Neidecker and their
daughter Claira, Caitlin Neidecker and her children Blake, Jayce, and Ahria. Shawn (Nicky)
Kohn and his sons Devlen and Clayton. Shane (Amber) Kohn, and brother, Jerry (June)
Walden.
He was preceded in death by his wife Darlene, his parents Lydia and Wolfgang Brey, and his
siblings, Eddie, Jim, Vernard, Alice, Lorraine, and Ted Mattison.
George William Walden was born January 1, 1935 in Sleepy Eye to Lawrence and Lydia
(Hoppe) Walden. He was united in marriage to Darlene Hirchert on May 4, 1956. George
worked in construction and concrete his whole life, and got to retire early with Darlene, and
enjoy their time together. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, bowling, and fast pitch softball.
