Obituary

Gerald "Jerry" Dean Eastman, 84, of New Ulm, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at his home on October 3, 2025.

Jerry was born on February 18, 1941, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Merton Eastman and Nina (Crandall) Eastman. He grew up with two sisters, Barbara "Barb" Jean (Eastman) Carson and Ellen Lee (Eastman) Hewitt. After graduating from high school, Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1962.

Following his service, he attended Pillsbury Bible College, where his faith became the foundation of his life. On December 2, 1962, he married the love of his life, Judith "Judy" Marie (Sumner) Eastman, in Minneapolis. Together they shared more than six decades of marriage filled with love, laughter, and family.

Jerry worked in janitorial services, maintenance, and as a boiler engineer, with many dedicated years at Allina Hospital and District 88. Known as a man who worked with his hands, he had a natural talent for building and carpentry. He was also an avid guitar player and lifelong student of the Bible, always eager to learn and share his faith.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy; his four children, Brenda (Maurice) Seidl, Shawn (Carin) Eastman, Karry (James "Jimmy") Schubert, and Andrea Eastman; 13 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Ellen Lee Hewitt, and his granddaughter Krista "Rainey" Schubert.

Jerry will be remembered for his strong faith, his quiet kindness, his craftsmanship, and the deep love he had for his family.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – SOUTH Chapel in New Ulm.
