October 6, 1939 – April 10, 2023
Gery J. Gulden, age 83, of rural Hanska passed away Monday, April 10, 2023 at the Oak Hills Living Center.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 15 th , 2023, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Searles. Burial will follow in the church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on Friday, April 14 th and continue from 9:30 - 10:30 on Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home-SOUTH Chapel in New Ulm.
Gery is survived by his wife Sally; daughter, Susan (Troy) Wersal; sons, Allen (Janet Squiers) Gulden, Dean Gulden, Glen (Chris) Gulden, Mark (Patty) Gulden; grandchildren, Adam, Jacob, Kali, Brooklyn, Sierra, Casey; great-grandchildren, Aisley, Lane and Madison ; brothers, Bernard Gulden Jr., Fred Gulden; sisters-in-law, Marvel (Jerry) Bergervoet, Marylou Gulden and Rita Nachreiner; brothers-in-law, John Burghardt, Kenny Schweiss and Lenny Nachreiner.
He is preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Collin Gulden; siblings, Bernice (Joe) Karpen, James (Loraine) Gulden, Thelma (Leo) Hillesheim, Ruth Gulden S.S.N.D., Charlotte (Jim) Mulvaney, Thomas Gulden, Marlee (Roman) Hillesheim, Patrick Gulden; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Victor Huiras, Clarence Deopere, Vicki Nachreiner, Marion Burghardt, Luci Schweiss, Phyllis Gulden and Joyce Gulden.
Gery Joseph Gulden was born October 6, 1939 to Bernard Sr. and Agatha (Sprenger) Gulden in New Ulm. He attended country school and St. John's in Searles. On August 11, 1964 he was united in marriage to Sally Nachreiner at the Church of Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth, MN. Gery was a self-taught carpenter and worked as a handyman for his neighbors and friends and worked for various construction companies in the New Ulm and Mankato area. In 1973 he built the home where he and Sally raised their family in rural Hanska. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and the St. John's Society in Searles. Gery enjoyed going to auctions and fishing with his grandchildren. Gery was given the gift of gab he loved talking to people and really enjoyed having conversation in German. But above all else he loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and taking them along anywhere he went. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Blessed be his memory.
