Obituary

Gladys (Buggert) Stolte of New Ulm and recently of Mankato passed away at age 85 on 7/24/24 at New Perspective Senior Living in Mankato. Her funeral will be at 11:00 AM, with visitation one hour before the service, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, South Chapel, in New Ulm.
Gladys was born May 12, 1939, to John and Lena Buggert in New Ulm, Minnesota. She graduated from
New Ulm High School in 1957. She was married to Mike Stolte on June 7, 1958, at the Friedents/UCC
church in New Ulm. After graduating she worked as a bookkeeper for a local dry cleaner until their
children were born. After raising her family, she worked at Herberger's in their office until her retirement.
Gladys was very involved at the United Church of Christ. She was a long-time member of the Ladies
Aide, taught Sunday School and Beehive, served coffee hour after church, and anything else that might
be needed. She also headed up the Valentines for Shut-ins program where she would bake an
assortment of valentine cookies and plate them to distribute them to church members that were no
longer able to come to church. She also volunteered to help at her children's Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops.
Family camping trips were among the family's favorite pastimes. After their family was grown, she and
Mike continued to take trips in their camper as long as they were able. She also enjoyed spending as
much time as possible with her grandchildren; and was thrilled to meet her two great-grandchildren.
Gladys is survived by her children Susan (Mike) Baker of Mankato; Mark (Kari) Stolte of Punta Gorda,
Florida; and Mary (Dale) Kassen of Lakeville; 5 grandchildren: Dan Baker, Nicole (Alex) Voit, Adam
(Bethany) Baker, Alex (Sydney Netland) Beaulieu, & Megan Stolte; and great-grandchildren Wren
Beaulieu & James Voit. She is survived by her sister, Janice (Julien) Griebel, and brother, Alton (Mabel)
Buggert; brothers-in law Charlie (Betty) Stolte and Bill (Karen) Stolte; and many nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by Mike, her husband for 65 years; her parents, John & Lena Buggert; infant
son, Michael John; brothers: Leslie (Eunice) Buggert and Fremont (Jan) Buggert; and sisters: Leona (Phil) Leonard, Adeline (Lloyd Berg), Evelyn (Gerald) Reibel, and Arlene (Hilly) Kral; her parents-in-law Everett & Alice Stolte; and brother-in-law Loren Stolte.
Gladys will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
