Greg grew up in Searles, graduated class of 1964 in New Ulm, and went on to proudly serve abroad in the U.S. Army. On his return he worked at Tony Downs, New Ulm Public Utilities before embarking on a 42 year career with New Ulm Telephone Company/Nuvera until retirement in 2011. Greg would like to be remembered as "The Telephone Man". Greg enjoyed retirement and its time for coffee with fellow retired friends, volunteering at the food shelf, morning Mass and walks. Greg was a quiet individual who enjoyed the outdoors, from playing baseball back in the day, coaching softball, going to county fairs, watching Twins and Vikings games to even snow blowing or mowing the lawn. Greg enjoyed his country western music, old western movies and TV programs, especially with cookies. There wasn't a cookie in the house that wasn't appreciated as he did like them. In reflection, Greg said "I Had A Good Party."
Greg will be thought of and cherished by his family, friends and co-workers. He was survived by his sister Janet Martin from Garden City, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Greg was proceeded in death by his parents Hubart and Francis (Huss) Griebel, his sisters Alice Henle (Charles) and Barbara Smith (Robert).
Memorials are requested for Masses to be said at St. John the Baptist Church (Searles) ,the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity or memorials to the food shelf. Blessed be Greg and his memory.
