Helen Ann (Sprenger) Wallner, 77, of New Ulm died Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at Woodstone Senior Living in New Ulm, MN, after a hard-fought, 2-year battle with cancer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11am on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 4-7pm on Friday, September 13, 2024 at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home - NORTH Chapel and will continue Saturday from 10-11am at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity.

Helen is survived by her husband of 56 years, Gary Wallner; daughters, Jenny (David) VanEck of Madison Lake and Julie (Shane) Rose of Woodbury; grandchildren, Tyler, Jonathan, Carter Van Eck, and Olivia and Lila Rose; brother Clarence (Joyce) Sprenger; brother-in-law, John Kuck; sister-in-law, Kathleen Wallner and Jan Wallner; and by so many nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; mother and father-in-law, Leo and Leona (Schwartz,Wallner) Stadick; step father-in-law, Joseph Stadick; brothers, Donald, Anton, Wilbert, and Stanley Sprenger; sisters, Elaine Kachelmeier and Roslyn Kuck; sisters-in-law, Marie, Rose Ann, Pat, Marion, Mary, and Delores Sprenger; brothers-in-law, Tony Kachelmeier, Rodney Wallner and Leo Wallner.

Helen Ann was the youngest of eight children, born on April 17, 1947, to Helen Louise (Grau) Sprenger and Anton M. Sprenger. She went on to District 9 country school, and graduated from Holy Trinity Catholic High School in 1965. Helen was united in marriage to Gary Wallner on July 25, 1968, and they were parents to two daughters, Jenny, and Julie. Helen worked in New Ulm her entire life with jobs at Kraft Foods, JC Penney Co, and she spent a remarkable 27 years as a secretary at Washington Elementary School. Helen was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She was an active member of the Cathedral of Holy Trinity Church, and she enjoyed many classes and activities over the years, which included traveling, casinos, bowling, card clubs, and golfing with friends and family.

Her memory will forever be a blessing, bringing comfort and strength to all who loved her.
