Obituary

Hildegard Ann Clyne, 94, of New Ulm died Monday, October 6, 2014 at Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.

Mass of Christian burial will take be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 13, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm with Monsignor Douglas Grams celebrating the Mass. Burial will take place in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery following the Mass.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, October 12, 2014 and again from 7:30-10 a.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm. The rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home Sunday evening.

Hildegard is survived by her daughter Donna (Bob) Butterfield of North Mankato; son Jerry Clyne of New Ulm; her grandchildren Dawn Roberts, Ryan Butterfield, Lisa Fritz, Charles Clyne, Michael Clyne, Lori Trosdahl; step-granddaughter, Jayde Quigley; six great-grandchildren; brother George Wiedl of New Ulm; sister-in-law Betty Clyne of New Ulm, and sister-in-law Carol Wiedl of Forest Lake.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William Clyne who passed in 1992, her daughter-in-law, Rita Clyne, her sisters, Eleanor Wills, and Florence Freidrich, her brothers, Alfred, Joseph, Charles, and Albert Wiedl, and ex-daughter-in-law Arlene Clyne.

Hildegard was born October 13, 1919 to Albert and Katherine (Groebner) Wiedl in New Ulm. She grew up in Goosetown where she attended school at St. Mary's grade school. She married William "Willy" Clyne on November 25, 1939 at St. Mary's Parish House in New Ulm. Besides being a loving mother and home-maker raising her two children, Hilde worked for a variety of retail stores, including WearWell Garment Company, Montgomery Ward, J.C. Penny's, and Herbergers where she worked for 20 years before eventually retiring. From childhood on, Hilde had a love for music. She demonstrated this enjoyment of music through playing the piano and singing her entire life. She also loved to simply listen to music. In her younger years she could be found dancing at a variety of area dance halls and ballrooms with her husband Willy. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm.
