Irene Kormann, age 87, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2023 at her home with all her family in New Ulm.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Pastor Grant Bode will officiate the service. Burial will be in the New Ulm City Cemetery, Soldier's Rest section.

Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Ulm.

Irene is survived by her husband of over 65 years, Willard Kormann; daughters, Renee (Randy) Jacobs of Madelia, Karen Hulke of New Ulm; son, Curt (Cheryl) Kormann of New Ulm; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren with one more on the way; sister, Phyliss Bartelt of Waseca; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marlys (Wayne) Halle; parents-in-law, Roger (Verna) Kormann; siblings-in-law, Charles Bartelt, Marvin (Ilene) Kormann, Donna (Edgar) Paulson, Lois (Leonard) Draheim; and niece, Dawn Halle.

Irene Wilhelmina Johnson was born June 22, 1936 to George and Selma (Piere) Johnson. She graduated from Waseca High School in 1954. After graduating, Irene was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Willard Kormann, on October 19, 1957 at Wilton Lutheran Church in rural Waseca. Their union was blessed with three children. In addition to being a mother, Irene worked at various jobs throughout her life. She finished her career as a paraprofessional at Washington Elementary School in New Ulm, where she retired. In her free time, Irene enjoyed going to rummage sales, shopping, and participating with the Legion Auxiliary. Above all else, Irene loved spending time with her family and making sure everyone was taken care of. She will be dearly missed by those that knew her. Blessed be her memory.
