COURTLAND

Irene Gertrude Vogel, age 98 of rural Courtland, died on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at her home in rural Courtland.

Funeral service will be 11 am on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Courtland.  Pastor Paul Lauer will officiate, and burial will take place in the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm at 1:30 p.m.

Visitation will be held from 9-11 am on Saturday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Courtland prior to the service.

The Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes of New Ulm are assisting the family with arrangements at this time.

Irene Gertrude (Boelter) Vogel was born on November 17, 1926, in New Ulm, Minnesota.  She was the daughter of Herman and Frieda (Gehrke) Boelter of New Ulm.  Irene was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in her faith as a youth.  Irene was a member of Immanuel Lutheran in rural Courtland.  On September 14, 1945, Irene was united in marriage to Vernon Vogel of rural New Ulm.  This marriage was blessed with three children, Robert, Gloria, and Thomas.  Irene and Vernon resided in New Ulm until 1962 when they moved to Essig.  They shared 25 years of marriage until the passing of Vernon on September 29, 1970 at the age of 48.  Irene worked for Kraft Foods, the New Ulm Country Club, and the Palace Café as a cook.  Irene enjoyed listening to gospel music, Alan Jackson, and Danny O'Donald.  She loved playing cards with her sisters, embroidering, crocheting, her cockatiel birds, and spending time with God.  Irene is survived by her son, Robert (Helen) Vogel of New Ulm; her daughter, Gloria (Gerald) Fitzner of Courtland; her son, Thomas (Lynnette) Vogel of Mankato; her grandchildren, Jeff and Daryl Vogel of New Ulm, Scott (Alaina) Fitzner of Dayton, Ohio, Chad (Michele) Fitzner of Lakeville, Brad (Heather Johnson) Fitzner of Courtland, Jennifer Koch of St. Paul, Travis Vogel of New Ulm, Joey Vogel of Mankato; 6 great-grandchildren; her sister, Bernice Polzin of New Auburn; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Frieda Boelter, her husband, Vernon Vogel in 1970, her sisters, Lorraine Krohn, Agnes Langhoff, Delorias Langhoff, Frances Miller, Geneva Thomas, Marion Brueske, an infant sister, Lucille Boelter; her brother, Erwin "Erv" Boelter; her half-brothers, Lester and Norman Boelter, her brothers-in-law, LeRoy Brueske, Garnet "Barney" Neumann, Clyde Thomas, Orville Polzin, Emery Langhoff, Dick Langhoff, Elmo Krohn, and Floyd Miller and her sisters-in-law, Erma Boelter, Vera Boelter, Margaret Boelter

Irene was known for her kind spirit, and deep faith.  She will be deeply missed. Blessed be her memory.
