Jane Bode, age 80, of New Ulm passed away Friday, August 28, 2026 at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm.

Jane is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Greg) Meyer of Cleveland; granddaughter, Tosha Tauer of Mason City; and her extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Dorothy Gareis; first husband, Donald Jandl; second husband Robert Bode; and brother, John Gareis.

Jane Irene Gareis was born May 16, 1946 in St. Paul. She was adopted by Harry and Dorothy (Fritsche) Gareis and resided on a farm outside of Essig. Jane graduated from New Ulm High School in 1965. That same year, she was united in marriage to Donald Jandl and the couple farmed together. The couple later separated. In 1977, Jane was united in marriage to Robert Bode. Outside of helping on the farm and raising her daughter, Lisa, Jane enjoyed music, going to concerts, and attended church at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. She especially loved her daughter Lisa and granddaughter, Tosha. Jane will be dearly missed by those that knew her. Blessed be her memory.
