Jason is survived by his daughter, Elissa Ries of New Ulm; his mother, Barbra Ries of New Ulm; his sisters, Jackie (Glenn) Forst of Gibbon, and Jenny (Christopher) Vorwerk of New Ulm; Elissa's mother, Cindy Preisinger of New Ulm; his mother-in-law, Nettie Preisinger of New Ulm; his special friend, Faye Hoiland; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Ries; and his father-in-law, Dick Preisinger.

Jason Adams Ries was born August 17, 1970, in New Ulm to Ronald and Barbra (Adams) Ries.  He was a 1988 graduate from New Ulm High School and later attended school at the Willmar Technical College.   Farming was a part of Jason's life from the beginning.  Early in his career, he moved back home to farm with his father Ron and his uncle David until 2004.  He later worked for area dairy farmers before starting his career with United Farmer's Cooperative.  Jason took tremendous pride in the work he did at UFC.  Although he was no longer farming, he enjoyed being able to work side by side with the area growers and made countless connections with every farmer he got to work with.  When he wasn't working, there were a variety of other hobbies he enjoyed in life.  As an avid outdoorsman, Jason enjoyed relaxing in the woods hunting, as well as time on the lakes fishing.  Many good memories were made on family camping trips over the years as well.  Jason was a huge sports enthusiast his entire life.  He enjoyed football, baseball, wrestling, softball, and anything that had to do with the Minnesota Gophers.  Jason was known as a people pleaser, a wonderful provider, and an excellent cook.  He was a member of St. George Catholic Church, and Ducks Unlimited.  Jason took a lot of pride in the work he did, but what brought him the most pride in life was his daughter Elissa.  Although he was taken from this world too soon, he will forever stay in the hearts and minds of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.  Blessed be his memory.

Memorials are preferred to New Ulm Area Catholic Schools, the Church of St. George, or the donor's choice.

An account has been established at the Southpoint Credit Union to assist with Elissa's NUACS tuition, activity fees, and school costs for her high school career.
