Obituary

Jean "Jeanne" Albrecht, 82, of New Ulm died Friday, June 23, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral service will be 11 AM Thursday, June 29, 2023 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor Timothy Smith officiating.

Visitation will be 5– 7 PM Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home NORTH Chapel in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at church on Thursday.

Jeanne was born on July 23, 1940 to Lester and Dorothy (Brown) Harmening. Growing up on a farm she was active in the Klossner 4-H and later served as adult leader. She attended country school District # 7 until the 4th grade and then attended St Paul's Lutheran school. She graduated from New Ulm High School in 1958. In June 1958 she married James "Jim" Albrecht at St Paul's Lutheran church in New Ulm. They farmed in rural New Ulm for 10 years before moving to town in 1969 where they raised their 5 children. She worked for 15 years at Dannheim's Kuhstall starting part time and serving as the office manager at the time the business closed. While at the Kuhstall she worked with the Chamber's New Ulm Retail committee , chairing the Home Show for several years, Then her career took her to the New Ulm Chamber of Commerce for 15 years serving as president when she retired, She presided over the Chamber committees and Oktobefest for years. She often talked of the OktoberFest which was held in front of the office were the volunteers were wearing winter coats and gloves. She was in the first group to attend the Blandin Leadership program. Members of this group formed the Network New Ulm program. She was also a past member of the Hub club and taught Jr. Achievement. She was a cancer survivor for 14 years.

She is survived by her husband of (65 Years) children Laurie (Ken) Klingler, Sandra (Dan) Reiter, Mike and William (Willie) Albrecht. Susan (Lynn) Forst. Her grandchildren Jeff (Brandi) Reiter, Tim and Jackie Reiter, Nick (Morgan) Klingler, Kristi (Ryan) Schroer, Cassie (Josh) Kraus, Katie (Special Friend Aaron Miller), Bergan (Jacob) Broste, Ramsi Forst, Nicole, Jack and Kyle Albrecht. Her great grandchildren Harper and Skylar Reiter, Ashtyn and Trevor Klingler, Emery and Elliegh Kraus, Morgan Goettl, Bryn Woodrum. Her brother John Harmening her sisters Janice (John) Snyder, Julie Sarff, sister-law Kay Gerasch, and many nieces and nephews.

Proceeded in death were her parents Lester Harmening and Dorothy and John Schugel. Brother James Harmening, sister in law Bonnie Sloan, brothers in law Don Sloan and Jim Gerasch, father and mother in law Hugo and Leona Albrecht.

You could always find her at one of the grandchildren's sports game. She enjoyed viewing the lake on early mornings at the cabin on Lake Shetek. She looked forward to breakfast with her friends and classmates.
