Obituary

Jerry Erickson, 80, of Hanska, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at United Hospital

in St. Paul, Minnesota. He is survived by his wife Kathy of 60 years, and their four children,

Jennifer (Brent) Kjelshus, Andrew (Jennifer Birr), Tony (Chrissie Schmitt), Amanda (Shawn

Wilfahrt), 9 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren, brother in-laws Charlie Paulson & Larry

Olson, and sister in-law Karen Haack.

Jerome Oscar Erickson was born on October 7, 1944 to Burnis & Adelia Erickson. He

attended school and graduated from the Hanska High School, class of 1962. He went on to

earn his teaching degree from Mankato State College. He married his high school

sweetheart, Kathleen (Olson) Erickson, on September 4, 1964. Jerry began his career

teaching Business classes in Luverne, MN, where he met and maintained many special,

life-long friendships. He held various jobs along his journey, his favorite and most known was

Uncle Jerry's Beefers in Hanska.

Jerry was an avid sports fan; he especially enjoyed his fantasy football league and was

always hoping to see the Vikings win a Superbowl one day! Road trips near and far were one

of his favorite things to do, sharing his wisdom and jokes to everyone he met along the way!

Jerry found enjoyment after creating a Facebook account several years back; it was

entertainment that he never knew he needed …… his very own social platform to share all

the things he felt passionate about, never missing an opportunity to debate his strong

political views.

Jerry was met by his parents, Grandson Devon Erickson, sister and brother in-law Bonita and

Algot Blomquist, sister Kristine Paulson, and niece Marie Larson.
