John is survived by his son, Michael Hanslick and his wife, Joo Young Yu and their son, Teo Yu Hanslick of St. Paul; his daughter, Jodi Hanslick of Minneapolis; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Bonnie (Mielke) Hanslick, his sister Jane (Hanslick) Bauer and his children Brenna, Brian, and Ryan Hanslick.

John Henry Hanslick was born on March 24, 1944 to Cleveland & Esther (Remus) Hanslick. He was baptized on April 9, 1944 and confirmed on March 30, 1958. He graduated in the Class of 1962 from Gibbon High School and married Bonnie Mielke on July 1st, 1972. John was a dedicated farmer and no other job brought him greater joy. He lived and worked on the family farm his entire life and in 2010 was proud to see it become a Century Farm. When not in the field, John could often be found in his shop fixing machinery, working on one of his many small projects or chatting it up with friends in his man cave. He also spent time working at other local businesses in the area over the years where he made many friends.

John looked forward to tending to the garden and flowers with Bonnie every year and driving around the farm on the gator with her and the family dog, Huey by their side. John also enjoyed being active on the Moltke Township and Church boards. John and Bonnie cherished their trips to New York City, South Korea and Hungary where they visited the home of the exchange students they hosted, Viktor and Vera Szabo. We hope their travels continue now that they are together again.

The family urges people to donate to the American Kidney Fund – www.kidneyfund.org – in memoriam to John.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations to the church be given to Immanuel Lutheran Memorial Piano Fund.
