John F. Schugel, age 73, of Hutchinson, MN, formerly of New Ulm, MN, died on Thursday, May 29, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes- SOUTH chapel.

Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home- SOUTH CHAPEL in New Ulm.

John is survived by his daughter Sadi (Jed) Hunstad, his sisters Mary Ellen (Paul) Schanus and Colleen (Lee) Firchau, his brothers Jim (Laurie) Schugel and Bob Schugel, and 4 grandchildren, Marius, Maxwell, Maddox, and Sophia. He is preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Robbie Schanus.

John was born in New Ulm on August 10, 1951, to Ohmar and Delphine (Wolf) Schugel. He graduated from Cathedral High School in New Ulm, Minnesota, and went to Hutchinson Vo-tech College, where he learned how to repair motorcycles and became a motorcycle mechanic. John was an over-the-road truck driver for most of his working years, but still had a great passion for working on motorcycles. John was also a gifted musician and played both guitar and piano accordion. He was also a published author with his book, "Jokes by John," which he was very proud of. John was a hard worker and passionate about his interests and hobbies.

He will be forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
