Obituary

Kathleen M. Baune, age 70 of New Ulm died peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm.

Funeral service will be at 7 pm on Monday, April 25, 2016 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home-NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm. Father Todd Petersen will officiate, and a private family burial will happen at a later date.

Visitation will be from 4-7pm on Monday at the funeral home in New Ulm.

Kathleen is survived by her husband, Bernie "Buck" Baune of New Ulm; daughter, Julie Descarrega of New Ulm; son, Brian (Cami) Baune of Hanska; granddaughters, Jennifer (Jeremy Rose) Descarrega of New Ulm, Aria Baune of New Ulm; great-grandchildren Jessa and Javen Rose; sisters, Margaret (Megan) Freeman of New Ulm, Patricia (Arnold) Goblirisch of Wabasso; and brother, Paul (Grace Ann) Brown of Mankato.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Johnson; and brother, Richard Brown.

Kathleen Marie Brown was born September 16, 1945 in New Ulm to Henry and Evelyn (Wilfahrt) Brown. She graduated in New Ulm from Cathedral High School in the class of 1963. Kathleen was united in marriage to Bernie Baune on August 8, 1964 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. The couple was blessed with two children whom together they raised in New Ulm. Early in life, Kathleen worked at the Loretta Hospital in New Ulm. After marriage she helped her husband Bernie on the farm, raised their family, and also worked for Dittrich Specialties. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. Kathleen had a variety of passions and hobbies in life. She enjoyed nature through her wonderful vegetable gardens, appreciating the flowers of spring and summer, working with her husband on the farm, and simply watching and feeding the birds. She was also a wonderful nurturer in the home, canning vegetables, cooking for her family, and creating marvelous cookbooks for future generations to appreciate. What she loved the most in life was her family. She loved every moment she got to spend with them watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow. She will be deeply missed by all of those who knew and loved her.
