Larry George Konakowitz, age 78 died peacefully at his home in New Ulm with his family by his side on Tuesday, August 15, 2023.

A private graveside service will be held at the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm where the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard will provide full military honors.

The Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes of New Ulm are assisting the family with arrangements at this time.

Larry is survived by his daughter, TerryLynn (Allan) Fox of New Ulm; his sons, Ricky Konakowitz of New Ulm, Paul (Monica Deleo) Konakowitz of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; his 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; his sister, Joyce (Richard) Lingl of New Ulm; his brother, Gary (Deb) Konakowitz of New Ulm; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister and brother-in-law, Zelda and Richard Domeier; his brothers, and sisters-in-law, Delmar and Kathy Konakowitz, LeRoy and Linda Konakowitz, Richard "Dicky" and Darlene Konakowitz; and his nephews, Jason Lingl, Scot Lingl, and Jesse Konakowitz.

Larry George Konakowitz was born August 12, 1945, in New Ulm to John and Gladys (Harder) Konakowitz.  He was a 1963 graduate from New Ulm High School, and shortly after graduating, he proudly enlisted in the U.S. Navy.  Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy, Larry went to work for the local company Super Sweet Feeds.  He later went to work in the electrical field, working at Valley View Electric, and later Kato Light where he worked until his retirement in 2010.  When he wasn't working, there were a variety of hobbies he enjoyed in life.  As a life-long outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, and camping.  He also enjoyed getting to work with his hands in his woodshop.  Many laughs were shared with family and friends over rounds of cards and board games, but to relax, he always enjoyed working on a good puzzle.  What Larry enjoyed most in life was time he got to spend with his family.  Countless memories were made at family get togethers with backyard water fights, competitive games of soccer and baseball, as well as many other yard games.   Larry was also a past member of the New Ulm American Legion.  These memories and so many others will forever stay in the hearts and minds of all who had the honor of knowing Larry.  Blessed be his memory.
