Larry Louis Patterson, age 88, of Burnsville, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at his home with family at his side.Larry was born on September 20, 1937, in New Ulm, Minnesota, to Louis and Esther (Brei) Patterson. He grew up in New Ulm, graduated from New Ulm High School, and married JoAnn S. Tomaschko in April of 1959; they shared 67 years of marriage. He earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Minnesota in June 1960. Larry began his career with Sperry Univac Corporation and remained with the company through its evolution into Unisys, taking great pride in his loyalty to a single employer as he worked his way through the ranks over more than 35 years.

An avid walleye fisherman, Larry spent countless hours on Long Lake in Park Rapids, Minnesota, with family, friends, and local fishing buddies. He and JoAnn had a lake home there since 1988, where he enjoyed the great outdoors and quiet relaxation, taught his children and grandchildren how to fish, and filled those times with witty humor and laughter, creating lasting summer memories for the family.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Donald; his son-in-law, Andrew Karageorgiou; He is survived by his loving wife, JoAnn; his children, Carita (Tom) Hakala, Lorinda Karageorgiou, Sarah (Kevin) Murphy, Renee (Jim) Bjostad, and Larry Charles Patterson; 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, and many other family members and friends.

Larry was a faithful member of Bloomington Living Hope Lutheran Church, where a service to celebrate his life, will be held at a future date.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family suggests donations be made to Tunnel to Towers, The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, or to the charity of your choice.
