LaVonne is survived by her sons, Greg (Susan) Kraus of New Ulm, Steve (Wendy) Kraus of New Ulm, Pat (Barb) Kraus of New Ulm; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Virginia Rathmann of New Ulm; brother, George Altmann; and many extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Kraus; parents, Hubert and Theresa Altmann; and her daughter, Katherine Kraus.
LaVonne Altmann was born January 25, 1931 to Hubert and Theresa (Lindsmeier) Altmann in West Newton Township. On November 25, 1950, LaVonne was united in marriage to Donald Kraus in St. George. Their union was blessed with five children, whom they raised together in New Ulm. In addition to being a mother, LaVonne worked at various jobs throughout her life. She retired from her working career at Kraft Foods in New Ulm. When she was not working, LaVonne could often be found in the kitchen cooking or baking. She loved hosting her family and spending time with Donnie. The couple spent many years tending to their garden, canning, and going out for chicken dinners with their family. LaVonne was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Catholic Order of Forester's, and the Alter Society. Above all else, LaVonne's family was her pride and joy. She loved every minute she was able to spend with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. LaVonne will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Blessed be her memory.
The family of LaVonne would like to thank the staff at Woodstone Senior Living in New Ulm for the years of care.
