Leorda M. Wels, age 67, of North Mankato, died Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Laurels Peak Rehabilitation Center in Mankato.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet, with Pastor Micah Plocher officiating. Burial will follow in the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on Friday, June 9, 2023, and continue from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, June 10 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet.

Leorda is survived by her sister, Joan (Wayne) Yost of Hastings; brothers, Mark (Helen) Wels of North Mankato and Kevin (Barb) Wels of Nicollet; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives & friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Leorda Meta Wels was born on February 14, 1956 in New Ulm to Walter & Lucille (Struss) Wels. She was baptized and confirmed in her faith at Trinity Evangelical Church in Nicollet. Leorda graduated from Nicollet High School in 1974 and then attended Union Nursing School in New Ulm. She was employed as a LPN at Grandview Nursing Home in St. Peter, the Lutheran Home, now Pathstone, and the State Hospital in St. Peter. Leorda enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting, tending to her garden, and bowling.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
