Lillian is survived by her husband, Alfred Aschenbrenner Jr. of New Ulm; her son, Brian (Teresa) Aschenbrenner of rural Sleepy Eye; her son-in-law, Steve Ubl of St. Paul; her 4 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Sheri Ubl; her sister, Elaine Wilfahrt; and her brothers, Vernard, Melvin, and Edmund “Buddy” Schroepfer.
Lillian Catherine Schroepfer was born July 23, 1938, in Sleepy Eye to Edmund and Loretta (Seidl) Schroepfer. Growing up near Sleepy Eye, Lillian attended country school and later St. Mary’s Catholic Grade School. She was united in marriage to Alfred “Fritz” Aschenbrenner Jr. on September 16, 1958, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. This union blessed the couple with a son and a daughter, whom they raised together in New Ulm.
Lillian devoted herself to being a loving wife and mother, caring for her family from their home. Once her children were grown, she worked for Dittrich Specialties and New Ulm Bus Lines for many years before she and Fritz eventually retired.
Lillian will be remembered as a loving and caring woman who was always willing to lend a helping hand to others. She was a devout member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. She especially treasured her family and found great joy in watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow, following their milestones and celebrating the special moments in their lives. Her kindness, caring nature, and love for her family will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. Blessed be her memory.
