Linus Simmet, age 92 of Mankato died Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at Pathstone Living Center in Mankato.

A private family graveside service will be held in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.

Linus is survived by his daughter, Chris (Bob) Freyberg of North Mankato; grandchildren, Rebecca (Joe Woods) Verr of Anthem, AZ and Bryan (Meryl) Freyberg of Carlton; great-grandchildren, Bailey (Christopher) Barker, Bobby Verr, Brooklyn Verr, Inger Freyberg, and Cedar Freyberg; great-great-grandchildren, Derick, Dreamlynn, and Azlynn Barker; brother-in-law, Dennis Pechtel of Mankato; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Simmet and Esther (Lingenhag) and Ignatius "Dots" Aschenbrenner; wife, Elaine Simmet.

Linus Joseph Simmet was born in Lafayette on April 26, 1933. Following high school graduation, Linus proudly served in the US Coast Guard. On May 20, 1953, he was united in marriage to Elaine Pechtel at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. His wonderful sense of humor will be deeply missed. Blessed be his memory.
