Marcella Meta Bode was born May 21, 1935, on her family farm in rural Courtland-Nicollet County to Gerhard and Agnes (Lange) Bode. Growing up in rural Courtland, Marcella attended, and was a 1953 graduate from Nicollet High School. She was united in marriage to Norman Ohland on May 29, 1960, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Courtland. This union blessed the couple with two daughters and two sons whom together they raised on Norman's family farm in rural Gibbon. Early in her career, Marcella worked at BF Goodrich, and the Union Hospital in New Ulm. To stay busy in her retirement years, Marcella worked at Hands Incorporated in Winthrop. Besides her work, there were a variety of hobbies Marcella enjoyed in life. She loved getting to work and tend her beautiful flower and vegetable gardens in the summers. She also enjoyed canning the fruits of her labor at the end of the year. She was a devout member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon. Marcella was known as a hard worker who was always there for anyone in need. She loved her family, she loved to laugh, and she loved the Lord. Blessed be her memory.
