Marion Altmann, 89, of New Ulm died Saturday, September 14, 2024 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM Monday, September 23, 2024 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm. Burial will follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the time of Mass at church on Monday.
The Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is handling the arrangement.

Marion is survived by her daughters, Barb (Ross) Nelson of New Ulm, Karen Altmann of Montgomery, Beth (Tom) Rewitzer of New Ulm; sons, Steve (Sue) Altmann of Eagen, Brad (Lisa Langer) of New Ulm, Bob (Terri) Altmann of Le Sueur; 15 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Eugene Altmann Jr.; grandson Ryan Nelson; granddaughter Jenna Vancura; great grandson Dominik Walters; and her sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Asta Reinarts Jr,
Marion Mae Bentzin was born March 17, 1935 in New Ulm to Fred and Myra (Gag) Bentzin. She was a 1953 graduate of Holy Trinity High School in New Ulm. Marion was united in marriage to Eugene Altmann on June 18,1955 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. They were blessed with six children whom they raised together in New Ulm. Marion was a devoted mother who enjoyed baking, swimming, reading and being active in her grandchildren's lives. She served as a lunchroom and playground supervisor for 20 years at Jefferson Elementary School in New Ulm. She was so well liked by the students, they called her "Grandma".
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to New Ulm Area Catholic Schools, New Ulm Public Schools, Oak Hills Living Center and the Way of the Cross.
