Obituary

Marlin Fitzner, age 86, of Nicollet passed away on Monday, May 25, 2026 on his farm in Nicollet.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 am on Monday, June 1, 2026 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran in Nicollet with Pastor David Carlovsky officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 – 11:00 am at church on Monday.

Marlin is survived by nephews, Jeff (Louise) Christians, Curt (Andrea) Christians; niece, Michele McDonald; along with his great nieces and nephews, Nicholas (Lexi), Justin (Jessica), Katie (Jake) and Cole, Michael and Travis; several great-great nieces and nephews; and his Godchildren, Brad and Erica. Also by many other relatives and special friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Waldemar and Hilda Fitzner; sister, Eileen Christians; brother-in-law, Calvin Christians; nephew-in-law, Douglas McDonald (Michele’s husband).

Marlin Marvin Fitzner was born Oct. 20, 1939 to Waldemar and Hilda (Schroeder) Fitzner of Nicollet. He graduated from Nicollet High School in 1956. After high school Marlin enlisted into the United States Army Reserve. Marlin was a lifelong farmer. He began farming with his dad. In his free time he enjoyed hunting and fishing and making different things like duck houses, squirrel feeders, bird feeders, etc. Marlin always had a good sense of humor and always had a new joke to tell. Marlin loved his little dog Annie; she went with him everywhere he did.

Marlin will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Blessed be his memory.
