Marlys M. Fixsen, age 86, of New Ulm, died on Friday, March 17, 2023 at the New Ulm Medical Center.
Visitation will be 10 am-12 noon on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – SOUTH Chapel.
A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home- South Chapel in New Ulm, with Father Joshua Bot officiating. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
Marlys is survived by her daughters, Carol (Gordon) Comstock of St. Cloud, Marie (Tom) Utz of Kasson, Marlene (Don) Braulick of New Ulm; her grandchildren, Garen (Amy) Comstock, Cara (Jordan) Fish, Ryan Comstock, Anna (Mike) Kunz, Krista (Colin) Kimball, Molly (John) Reinhart, Marissa (Brady Wright) Utz; her 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Arlene Kral and Alyce Anstett; sister-in-law, Mary Jane Windschitl; many nieces and nephews; and special niece, Deb (Randy) Bailly.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 67 years, Merlin; her infant son, Gary; parents; and brother, Cyril Windschitl.
Marlys Mae Windschitl was born on November 23, 1936, in Burnstown Township, Brown County, Minnesota to Joseph and Sophia (Ubel) Windschitl. She was united in marriage to Merlin Fixsen on June 7, 1955, at the Church of the Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth. This union blessed the couple with three daughters whom together they raised while living in Springfield, rural Wabasso, before eventually living in New Ulm. As someone who loved to travel, Marlys was able to see all 50 states.
She was the grandkids and great-grandkids biggest fan, attending dance, hockey, choir and band concerts, BMX, and gameday. Marlys enjoyed sewing, quilting, flower gardening, travel, nature, and pets.
Dearly loved, forever missed.
