Obituary

Marlys (Mrs. Cletus) Wenner, 77, of Nicollet died Saturday, June 6, 2015 at the Mayo Health Systems in Mankato. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Nicollet with Father Todd Petersen celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, rural Nicollet. Visitation will be 4 – 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Marlys is survived by her husband, Cletus, of Nicollet; children Tim (Mary) Wenner of Nicollet, Tam (Brian) Randall of Mason City, Iowa, Monica (Kirk) Johnson of Omaha, Nebraska, Mike (Lana) Wenner of Nicollet; grandchildren, Nate (Amanda), Sarah (fiancé Aaron), Holly (fiance Ben), Lindsay, Ben (Elise), Becky, Tyler, and Kayla; great grandchildren, Tegan, Dane, and Danny; sisters, Elaine (Lloyd) Zimmerman of Nicollet, Bonnie (Tom) Bartlett of St. Peter, and by brother, Rick Meurer (fiancée Mona) of Nicollet.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Lucas Fitzgerald, and by a sister-in-law, Barb Meurer.


Marlys Maureen Meurer was born on March 31, 1938 in Nicollet to Thomas and Violet (Becker) Meurer. She attended school in Nicollet graduating in the class of 1956. On June 11, 1957 Marlys was united in marriage with Cletus Wenner at the St. Michael's Catholic Church in Belgrade Township, Nicollet County. After marriage they lived in Nicollet and Marlys worked for many years at the Holiday House in St. Peter. She later worked as a teachers aid at the Nicollet Public School for several years before becoming employed at Taylor Corp in Mankato up until her retirement. Marlys enjoyed calligraphy, watching sports that her children and grandchildren were involved in, writing poems, collecting clowns, baking, eating sweets, dancing and listening to her favorite music. She truly enjoyed spending time with her family. Marlys was a member of the St. Paul's Catholic Church in Nicollet. www.mvfh.org
